It's not a spontaneous thing, it happened as an unexpected side effect of a drug soldiers used to take. Or, that's what I read. The effects of the drug pass on to their children, and that's a Twilight.
[ the mention of the drug was what izumo was waiting for. ...not that mutants couldn't exist (they totally could), but spontaneous mutations like that sound a bit too fantastical for her. ]

Like monsters. Or something to be abused and put down once they’ve achieved a purpose. [ like living breathing canon fodder ]
That’s more the older Twilights, but for every grown, high ranked Twilight there’s a lot of low ranked ones, or children who just can’t protect themselves from a mob that hates them for existing.
[ aand that's what izumo figured would the answer to that question. it's disgusting that she could see it coming a mile away. there's just a constant in regards to certain human qualities, isn't there? ]
But it isn't their fault.

I'm only one person. But... it's not fair to treat someone badly just because of what they can do. It's what they do with their skills that matters.
Anyone can hurt someone, you don't have to be superpowered for that.

Twilights scared me, at first. But... they scared me because I didn't know about them. Like a fear of the unknown? And I saw so many people interacting with them like normal, Twilights with families and kids, so... that was my issue, not theirs.
Some of them still scare me? Because some of them are very powerful and do use that to hurt people, but... a lot of them are just living. Same as all of us.
[ izumo can't relate to some of but there are parts of it that she can relate to and it's... well, there's no point in avoiding it but no point in coming completely clean about it either. ]
I know the feeling. [ which feeling? she won't clarify. ] It's always funny to listen to people talk about togetherness when they're afraid of those who aren't that different from them..
I understand being afraid. Initially, at least. [ twilights do still scare her, sometimes. some of them. but not all of them. ] If something's dangerous, a little fear is healthy.
But not if you're going to use it to remain ignorant, or spread that fear to everyone like them, so it turns into hate. If you're scared of something because you don't know it, then... that's a personal issue. That's what I think.

For every Twilight that would abuse their strength, there’s a whole group who are just trying to survive. Or are bound by a contract.
And for every human who’s afraid of them anyway, there’s one that would do worse to a Twilight than that Twilight would do to them.
