It was likely a side effect from the Realm being sick, since it's very clear that none of them ever wanted to hurt us.

Well we were kind of on a war zone—I think. Adora, someone from Glimmer's world, called it the "Fright Zone". I doubt you call a place by that name and expect good things.

A war versus literal monsters... both of them kinda suck. There were all these test tubes, and one of the specimens had escaped. It spat acid.
