[ it’s said softly, but she does sound relieved. ]

[ He sits back, offering her a brief smile. ]

For as exhausting as the rest of the week was.

Yes. I don't know how but... that it did is enough.

[ she really does look like a weight lifted off of her shoulders. ]

... Have we ever had a peaceful week here? Honestly?

[ A long moment of silence, thumb flipping the pages at the corner of the book in a soft, repetitive motion while he muses over that. ]

No. It feels like today was the first chance we actually had to breathe, even if we don't really have any answers for it.

[ How it happened, and who the other killer was. ]

... I assume it's something someone here did. I just don't know who. I already asked the person I thought might've been involved, and they weren't.

[ and then, of course, in the midst of all this weird relief and not losing anyone else, there was the fact they'd failed to catch a whole killer. again. ]

That's my guess, too. But it's something to keep an eye out for in the future - we just can't rely on it. Even if I'd like to have a few answers about it.

[ They're - well, they're at least catching a killer every trial, as a silver lining. Those odds are rather impressive in the end. ]

There must be a logical reason for it. But it's... not like we can rely on it, either way.
