[ xie lian is absolutely not the type to take free food for granted, so. he's been in here often the past two days, trying different dishes! today, he's settled at a table with a glass of water and three or four plates in front of him, scanning through his phs. ]

...Well... a lot. I'm not really sure. I think these were called "fish sticks", and some kind of stew, and there's a grilled fish that's kind of spicy - it reminds me a little of home...
[ he's pointing to each one as he goes! ] I think it's quite the blessing to be able to eat things like this whenever we please this week, so... I guess I got a little excited. Please, come sit!
It's a batter? You cook it in a press that give it a specific shape, and then you can dust it with icing sugar, add fruit on top or pour sauce on it. I can make them again at some point, if you wanted to try them. They're not hard to make.
Would you mind, terribly? I'm sure there's something I can do in exchange - ah, I can at least help clean up the mess and do the dishes! It would be best if I didn't cook, but...

It has been quite a blessing, to be able to try so many new and exciting foods, here. Even amidst all this chaos, there are small things to be thankful for.
