I was looking through all the equipment we've got here. I found a waffle maker this morning? So I'm wondering what else is hiding in here.

I wonder if there's an ice shaver machine in there.

Yeah, just an ordinary one. Nothing fancy but you don't really need fancy to make a waffle.

Ice shaver...? I'm not sure I've seen one but ... then again I'm not sure I know what it looks like.

But sometimes they can come in cute shapes...

[ have you seen heart shaped waffle irons??? they could make those and turn them into heart shaped waffle sammiches!!! ]

You've never heard of it? It's like this machine where you put ice into and crank a lever and it crushes the ice up where you get a fine powder of sorts. [ she'll make hand gestures to demonstrate the point. ] It's refreshing to eat, especially when it's hot.

If there is one I didn't find it... maybe we could draw something on them in syrup or sauce instead?

No... but isn't that just crushed ice? You could make that with a block of ice, a grater and ... well. Gloves might be an idea, if you're holding the ice that long.

[ she's going to be very firm about this since she wagers there are going to be plenty of people who will be mooching off of those who can cook. ]

We should have gloves on hand, but no way are we grating the ice ourselves. It won't be the same. [ not to mention?? why??? ] Maybe one of those masked people could help us out with getting one.

How would you do a personalised message in ice... you’d need a took for that?

It’s worth a try. They don’t seem out to ruin our day... and they got toothbrushes didn’t they? Maybe they can find a shaved ice machine as well.

With syrup. [ ... ] It's common to serve fruit, syrup, or things just like that on top of it where I'm from. So, with the syrup you could write a message if you're careful enough.

It doesn't have to be a message. It can be shapes too; similar to what you'd do on a cake.

[ like hearts or smiley faces... or knives. your choice. that said—sudden ideas for ominous messages on omurice. ]

I hope they can. An ice shaving machine is one item compared to forty something toothbrushes.

... [ hmmm. ] Actual sweets might be a little tricky in a kitchen we don't know that well. Did you want to make a cake of some kind?

[ it's her turn to hmm softly. a cake would be good especially since she later becomes a cake pop factory but— ]

Did you find a muffin tin?

There are boxes with sealed lids in the cupboards? Not specifically muffin tins but I think they could hold a cake.

I guess that works. [ she was thinking cuppie cakes but guess they're going for a full cake. ] What kind of cake then? I only know a few recipes off-hand.

Hmm. Why don't you tell me the ones you know and what you'd like to do and maybe we can come up with something interesting. Especially if we think of complementing flavours.

Chocolate, vanilla, lemon, strawberry, red velvet, almond, mocha... [ a beat, as though she's considering something? hm. ] and carrot.

[ her voice trails after she lists them all and. uh. "a few" indeed. (she's totally hiding a few more but this is More Than Enough. ]

Chocolate and vanilla's a pretty traditional combination, that might work. Or...

[ she's thinking about it. ]

Almond and mocha...? Or maybe mocha would be too overpowering in that combination.

Almond and mocha sounds more interesting than chocolate and vanilla. [ both will look like marble cakes but one will be the more "superior" marble cake. Besides, we can just alter the amount of mocha to make it less coffee tasting.

[ nods. ]

[ don't be hating on the classic of chocolate and vanilla, izumo. ]

Alright then, we'll go with that. Adding some actual almonds rather than just extract into the batter should help as well, both with texture and taste.

[ but sometimes you like to change things up!!! nevertheless, izumo supports this. ]

That'd add to the texture, too. I don't mind my cakes having a little crunch or something to chew on sometimes.

[ sometimes you just brutally hate on the classics, i see how it is. ]

It breaks it up a bit. [ hmmm. ] Are we doing one big cake or little ones? And... hm. A chocolate frosting would probably be too much chocolate overall.

[ cake talk is serious talk. ]

[ STOP. if someone gave her a lemon cake, she'd be thrilled. ]

We could do a small cake. [ not quite cupcake but not quite a Big Boi but a ""personal"" sized cake. nods. ] It would be a waste to make a big cake and have some of it go to waste.

[ hmmm... serious cake conversations indeed. ]

Would a normal buttermilk frosting be too sweet for a cake like this?

I know someone who hasn't had cake before, so I think I'd like to take a piece to them, if we can account for that as well.

[ they're here for cake times and to make the best damn cake in the realm ]

The coffee and chocolate balance each other so we might be able to get away with buttermilk. We could make a little of different kinds and try some while the cake's cooling.

[ they could bake any left over batter to try it with. is this just an excuse to eat cake?
