It... It definitely knows things about us. It was able to take the forms of people we know —- and not in a positive way. [ there’s a very interesting snarl of something like anger, hate and a very deep fear that gets tugged loose at the mention of whatever it was the creature had turned into. but she smothers it pretty fast. ]
More like it knew our weak spots and was willing to use them against us. That doesn’t make me think it was something benevolent.
[ she’s quiet for a... fairly long time, and it’s very clear from her emotions there’s a real fight or flight war going on in her mind. like she’s about to bolt and just keep going until she’s as far away as she can get.

but then she takes a deep breath, and it settles and steadies. slowly, but surely.
there’s nothing here she has to be ashamed of. the fear is still there, but there’s something steely too. ]

Eventually someone took out a hit on his entire gang, and that’s how I met Nicholas and Worick.
But if this place can dip into our memories as it wants and take them from us, I guess we shouldn’t be so surprised this monster can use them too.

the anger is a bit of a surprise. so many people in ergastulum knew her story before she even knew them — there were so many women like that in that place anyway that they were more of a sad fact and reality of life than something to get mad over and angry for.
but it’s... nice as well. there’s still fear and that spark of something defiant in her, but she can’t help but feel grateful too —- that he’s not asking for more details, and that what she’s saying is just being accepted as it is. ]

They’re already being used against us in some ways. It’s like a reverse hostage situation —- the Realm takes them, and we don’t know how to get them back. We just know we can, in some way. But we don’t know what, not properly.
We don’t even know if we can regain them in a non-violent way either.
