[ alex actually has a reason to be back at the emporium the day after they all woke up in the middle of the street like drunk hobos. she doesn't seem to be looking around the store at all, instead making a beeline straight for the counter.
she looks around, before looking down at the countertop. specifically at a little piece of paper that someone's left there. ]
[ alex is gunning straight to the kettle and the cupboards, taking down what looks like a tin of something probably quite bright in colour and spooning a heaping teaspoon into a mug. ]
...
That's an understatement. This whole weekend's been... [ how doth one describe it? ]
[ if hansa is snooping around the emporium he'll eventually come across alex, hunched over what looks like a display case of animal grabbers. there's one tucked under her arm that looks like a shark, and also might look a little more ... scuffed than the others?
she's holding two others in her hands - one that looks like a tiger and one that looks like a rhinoceros. every now and again, she's using the handle to make it look like they're snapping their jaws.
for what is, essentially, a grown lady playing with plastic kid's toys, she looks like she's taking this very seriously. ]
[He feels...weirdly antsy? Its been going on all day, so it isn't some kind of caffeine withdrawal, he knows. When he finally comes across her, there's some sense of relief- but also a strange urgency, like now that he's found her he needs to do something.]
[Confused, he just reaches out to rest his hand on her shoulder. That doesn't feel like enough.]
[ i'm assuming they're just walking around like someone put them in the get-along shirt, except the "get along" part is more "vibing in the same general area because one of you went on a wild cyoa".
but eventually, alex is just going to tap hansa on the shoulder. ]
[Well, Hansa doesn't mind, even if this closeness is still a bit awkward. He's just keeping his eye on Alex for the most part, which is why he instantly turns his attention to her at her question.]
[Yeah, its still affection week. He's been tired for even more reasons than this whole Kano mess, so when he sees Alex at the riverside, he just heaves a sigh as he wanders up.]
[ welp it’s hugging time now. alex is unresponsive for a moment, but then she sighs and returns the hug. with surprising force considering she’s hugging 70% metal here. ]
[ well, what a lovely weekend it's been. no stress, everything has worked out perfectly for everyone.
ha.
she heads for the bridge automatically, her freebie bottle of alcohol in one hand because for the first time since she got here she really feels like she might need it, and just comes to a stop when she spots hansa already there. ]
...
[ she's just gonna lean over and hand him the bottle, honestly. ]
I think if anyone hasn't broken open their bottles already this is probably the weekend to do it.
[ firstly; i’m delighted this is happening in pirate cosplay, thanks mods.
secondly; surprise. she’s down by the port and honestly, it’s not going to take a mod-audited feelings jam for it to be clear she’s not doing so great? she looks a little scared, and she’s pacing the wooden dock in a way that just looks stressed. one arm is wrapped around her waist and the other is in a fist, her knuckles pressed against her mouth.
she’s mumbling something to herself, but between the pacing and her half covering her mouth it’s not clear what she’s saying. ]
[He saw her from afar and decided to come say hello, but coming closer, its apparent something is wrong. As he steps forward, concern bubbles over, mixed with light confusion.]
this has been a fun day. making new friends. like that bird that coughed up a sword and stabbed her.... angry snakes.... leeches....
she's managed to shower and change and not smell like a literal swamp monster, all without disturbing the bandage she's now got around her leg - which is impressive considering francy made the showers tiny as hell. considering everything that's happened today, she looks pretty alright, and is just chilling in the lobby, writing something down on a sheet of paper.
a lot of sheets of paper actually. wow alex, is this a novel? ]
[Of course, Hansa has had his busy days. His role involves brutal work, of hunting down and destroying the heretical, the demonic. There are days when his robotic limbs have been left in sheer disrepair, when he can barely move after nights of staying awake, when he's realized that his cyborg body does not save him from the very human feeling of being exhausted.]
[So today isn't a bad day, by all means. His limbs, though they were soaked in mud, at least work as they should, though he can't tell what might have happened to the gadgets inside. They're all in one piece. He spends a very, very long time in the shower to make sure that he scrubs as much swamp water and mud out of him as possible. And now, in new clothes, he's ready to just go get something to eat and call it a night.]
[That is, until he sees her in the lobby.]
Alex. [He's still too far for the emotional connection to be felt, though the twinge of concern in his expression is not at all subtle.] Hey...how are you? What's going on?
[ the book shop's been open just around 24 hours and alex has already nicked a book from it - specifically the sign language book she was looking at the other day.
her attention is half on it, and half on her surroundings, but she does stop when she spots hansa near the inn. ]
[He swivels his head in her direction from where he's sitting, confused. The first thing she should notice is that he has taken off his eyepatch.]
[The second thing she should notice is the strange right eye - a crystal set in metal, lens within swiveling and adjusting as he tries to find the location of the voice.]
[ well this has been a terrible day. as soon as the groups drift apart she’s gone for a little bit to check in on yoshizawa before going looking for hansa.
when she spots him over by the railroad station she picks up the pace, before stopping next to him. ]
... alright then, what happened. You all seem so... [ god what’s even the word for it? ]
[ after the trial, she's just sat somewhere in the corner between rooms 10 and 11, arms folded on her knees and just staring at the carpet honestly. her little t-rex is grumbling somewhere to her left, but she's not really paying it much attention. ]
she just rushes at him with a speed she really hadn't thought she was capable of, and grabs him by the shoulders. she looks like she wants to shake him but all she really does is... well. well up like she's about to start crying, honestly. ]
[ another week, another location. alex is already dressed for the occasion, in an outfit she's already taken from the store rather than wear her halloween one.
she's looking in the window of the gun shop, with a complicated expression on her face. ]
... They're really just going to let us have access to this?
[ her little t-rex is just sat on her foot. lil'rex doesn't give a damn. ]
[He also is in one of the outfits from the clothing store! Stylish! Very Gunsmoke! And Hansa peers over her shoulder, frowning when he sees what is inside.]
[ it’s wednesday, and alex is on the look out for hansa - just wandering generally, keeping an eye out for him around the plaza and town area, or the new location.
[ me: trying to remember locations from only a few days ago. alex is sat outside the saloon, watching people wandering past and occasionally shifting to avoid bumping into memory bubbles as they idly float past.
one of them gets a very unimpressed look when it pops up close to her arm, and makes her shuffles a few paces to the left to avoid it. ]
I cannot wait for these things to be gone for good...
