I think it becomes sort of automatic after a bit. Nicholas can lip read just fine, but you need to be stood where he can see you for that to work and I wanted to try and learn how to sign as well.

The alphabet's probably the best place to start. If you're struggling with some words you can spell them out -- it's not ideal, but people will understand it. [ which is the main thing.

It's not a spontaneous thing, it happened as an unexpected side effect of a drug soldiers used to take. Or, that's what I read. The effects of the drug pass on to their children, and that's a Twilight.
