week 2, thursday

[ there is nothing but determination that's making alex go looking for dorothy on this, the day after a bird coughed up a sword into her leg. that, and the fact she's got dorothy's bandana - now freshly cleaned of all swamp guck and blood - which she needs to return.

luckily i'm going for the kitchen, so she doesn't have to go to far from her room to find dorothy. ]

... I was going to ask if your head was okay, but I think I just got my answer.

[ dorothy your poor noggin. ]

[misstrust]

[ Dorothy looks up with an expression that's half-smile, half-grimace. The ice is helping, at least. ]

I rather think the bruising brings out my eyes. How is your leg, Alex?

[chanteuser]

You won't need to worry about eyeshadow for a bit, that's for sure.

[ ouch! it looks like it hurts. ]

Oh, I got it patched up by a professional. [ she smiles. ] It's just going to be a pain to walk around for a bit, but it could've been worse.

[ speaking of! she holds out the bandana to her. now dorothy's outfit is complete once more. ] Thank you, for helping me out.

[misstrust]

I'd like to think I'm not heartless enough to let someone who was stabbed just fend for herself.

[ Dorothy says this rather dryly, but Alex can probably feel the amusement and the concern from her as she reaches out to take her bandana back.]

I feel rather like we got the short end of the stick, however.

Still, it's appreciated.

[ there's just a nice little concern loop here, probably between the two of them. but there's also gratitude and amusement from alex. ]

The swamp probably wasn't the best choice of location. [ the LEECHES? ] But half the group seemed to have a great time. Ish.

It's certainly true that I've never met a man so enthused to fight an alligator or to fling himself out a window.

[ They got the Special Ones. ]

Apparently Hansa fought a bear last week. Maybe this was just a logical step up?

[ haha. ] And I think money's a pretty big motivator for Rufus. I guess we probably should've seen that one coming.

[misstrust]

... Probably. I think I did, but for matters like that, it's best to just let him do his thing and do damage control later.

[ she’s pulling out a chair now because standing is. fun right now. ow in the leg. ]

I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen him that happy. At all?

[ wow ]

... but I guess it didn’t hurt to just let him do his own thing, yeah.

week 6, tuesday

[chanteuser]

[ sometimes it's really difficult to avoid gravitating to the big, shiny, loud fairground hanging out at the end of the pier. this is where alex has found herself for something like the third time already.

she has a huge pretzel in one hand and a pot of what looks like Very Not Real Yellow Cheese in the other, and is staring at the dip like she's not sure if she's really into it. ]

[misstrust]

... Perhaps too soon, but I doubt it's poisonous.

[ Dorothy is here, waving a corn dog like she's conducting an orchestra. It's probably just a greeting, though. ]

[chanteuser]

[ conduct those stalls, dorothy. ]

See, this is why I'm feeling pretty wary. It looks radioactive.

[ the pretzel looks safe though? so. she'll take a bite of that. ]

[misstrust]

Shall I test it for you?

[ Dorothy has been drugged and poisoned, this does not frighten her. ]

[chanteuser]

[ dorothy if you die she's going to have to tell ange and that would break her heart? ]

... If you're feeling especially brave?

[ she tears off a piece of the pretzel, and dips it in the "cheese" for her. ]

[misstrust]

[ Ange has a bunch of other older siblings, it's fine. But Dorothy reaches out to take it and pops it into her mouth. ]

How... very peculiar.

... Not good?

[ it doesn't look it, soooo... ]

[misstrust]

It tastes very... I'm not sure how to put this. False?

week 6, saturday post trial

[chanteuser]

[ what a fun couple of days this has been. alex is just going to head as close to where dorothy is as this stupid realm with let her.]

[ Darn barriers.

Dorothy's just chilling, sitting quietly. ]

Hello, Alex.

[chanteuser]

... Your team finished what they had to do then?

[ she'll just take a seat on the other side of the barrier. ]

Don't worry. I'm not going to ask details. Just that.

[misstrust]

They did. [ She breathes this out. ]

Alright then.

...

So now it's up to us to do the rest for all of you.

[misstrust]

I'm sorry to have to leave it to you.

[ She does at least seem apologetic. ]

Don't be. I think you guys have had the harder jobs so far.

[misstrust]

... I made sure he didn't suffer. That was the most I could do for him, and I'm sorry for that as well.
